Conventional Labs & Specialty Testing

Labs & Specialty Testing (Targeted, Not Random)

Testing should reduce confusion—not add to it. We recommend conventional labs and/or specialty testing only when it helps answer specific questions, then we translate results into a clear plan.

When Labs & Specialty Testing can help

Testing may be worth considering when:

  • Symptoms persist despite basic changes

  • You want clarity before making a plan

  • You need more detail than standard labs provide

  • You want data-driven nutrition or wellness strategy

We offer a full range of conventional laboratory testing through our Direct-Pay In-House Lab, providing convenient access to essential blood work without insurance barriers. This includes standard diagnostic panels as well as advanced cardiometabolic, hormone, inflammatory, autoimmune, and longevity-focused testing.

Our testing approach

Step 1: Clarify the goal (“What are we trying to learn?”)

Step 2: Choose the right test (only if it changes decisions)

Step 3: Review results in context (symptoms + history)

Step 4: Build the plan (what to do, how long, what to monitor)

What kinds of testing may be considered

Depending on your needs, this may include conventional labs or specialty testing recommendations. Below are the differences:

Conventional Labs:

  • CBC (Complete Blood Count)
Evaluates red and white blood cells and platelets to assess overall blood and immune health.

  • CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel)
Assesses liver function, kidney function, electrolytes, and blood sugar.

Cardiometabolic & Longevity Markers

  • Lipid Panel
Measures cholesterol and triglycerides to evaluate cardiovascular health.

  • Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)
Assesses cholesterol particle burden related to cardiovascular risk.

  • Lipoprotein(a)
Genetic marker associated with cardiovascular risk.

  • Omega-3 Index (Omega Check)
Measures omega-3 fatty acid levels to assess inflammatory balance and cardiovascular support.

  • Hemoglobin A1c
Reflects average blood sugar levels over several months.

  • Fasting Glucose
    Measures current blood sugar levels.

Inflammation, Methylation & Cellular Health

  • High-Sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP)
    Marker of systemic inflammation.

  • ESR (Sedimentation Rate)
    General indicator of inflammatory activity.

  • Ferritin
Reflects iron storage and inflammatory status.

  • Homocysteine
Marker related to cardiovascular health, neurologic function, and methylation pathways.

Thyroid Panel

  • TSH
Primary screening test for thyroid function.

  • Free T3
Measures the active form of thyroid hormone.

  • Free T4
    Measures circulating thyroid hormone levels.

  • Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO)
    Screens for autoimmune thyroid conditions.

  • Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb)
    Additional autoimmune thyroid marker.

Female Hormone Panel

  • Estradiol

  • Progesterone

  • Testosterone

  • DHEA-S

  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)

Male Hormone Panel

  • Total Testosterone

  • Free Testosterone

  • Estradiol (Sensitive Assay)

  • DHEA-S

  • SHBG

  • PSA (age-appropriate)

Adrenal & Stress Markers

  • Cortisol (AM and/or PM)
Evaluates adrenal function and stress response patterns.

Nutrient Status

  • Vitamin D (25-OH)
Assesses vitamin D status related to immune and bone health.

  • Vitamin B12
Supports neurologic function and energy metabolism.

  • Folate (Serum or RBC)
    Evaluates folate status.

  • Iron Panel
Measures iron levels, binding capacity, and saturation.

  • Magnesium (Serum or RBC)
Assesses magnesium status related to neuromuscular function.

Autoimmune & Immune Screening

  • ANA (Antinuclear Antibody)
Broad screening test for autoimmune activity.

  • Rheumatoid Factor (RF)
Marker associated with inflammatory joint conditions.

  • Anti-CCP Antibodies
More specific marker for rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Complement C3 / C4
    Evaluates immune system activity.

Cognitive Health & Longevity Genetics

  • APOE Genotyping
Genetic marker associated with Alzheimer’s disease risk and lipid metabolism.

  • MTHFR Genetic Testing
Evaluates genetic variants affecting methylation pathways.

  • Alzheimer’s Genetic Risk Panel
Genetic screening related to cognitive aging and neurodegenerative risk.

Liver, Kidney & Safety Monitoring

  • AST / ALT
    Liver enzyme testing.

  • Alkaline Phosphatase
Marker of liver and bone activity.

  • Creatinine & eGFR
    Evaluates kidney filtration and function.

  • Uric Acid
    Assesses metabolic burden.

Urine Testing

  • Urinalysis
Screens kidney health, hydration status, and urinary tract health.

  • Microalbumin / Creatinine Ratio
    Early marker of kidney stress.

Specialty Testing:

  • Galleri® Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test — Blood test that screens for 50+ cancers by detecting tumor DNA signals, often before symptoms.

  • Genova GI Effects® Comprehensive Stool Analysis — Deep gut test assessing digestion, inflammation, and microbiome balance to help explain bloating, fatigue, and other symptoms.

  • Hormone Testing (Serum + DUTCH) — Combines bloodwork and DUTCH testing for a full hormone picture to support concerns like fatigue, mood changes, sleep issues, and cycle irregularity.

  • Food Sensitivity Testing — Identifies delayed immune responses that may contribute to inflammation and symptoms like brain fog, joint pain, and skin issues.

  • Methylation & Genetic Wellness Testing — Genetic insights into detox, mood, hormones, and nutrient processing to personalize supplements and lifestyle.

  • Functional Lab Panels — Reviews common labs (vitamins, lipids, inflammation markers, etc.) through a functional lens to identify what’s optimal for you—not just “normal.”

  • NEW: Saliva-Based Sleep Assessment — Measures melatonin, cortisol, and progesterone to uncover drivers of sleep issues, fatigue, brain fog, and hormone imbalance—no blood draw.

  • Additional specialty testing when appropriate to your goals

(We’ll only recommend what makes sense for you.)

FAQs

Can I order tests without a consult?

We strongly recommend a consult so results lead to a plan.

Will you help me interpret results?
